Abstract
Intrinsic arteriovenous malformation (AVM) within the trigeminal nerve is very rare and can be a cause of trigeminal neuralgia (TN). A 49 year-old man had experienced intractable symptoms of trigeminal neuralgia. Magnetic resonance imaging and angiography revealed an AVM intrinsic to the left trigeminal nerve causing compression at the root entry zone. Radiosurgery to left trigeminal nerve was performed and the symptoms were improved. The possibility of AVM when managing patients with TN intractable to medication should be borne in mind.
